ADELAIDE Crows chairman Rob Chapman would be wondering how Steven Trigg has survived as club chief executive if he didn't have all the facts in front of him.

"There are people telling me not to worry about those who want Steven sacked," Chapman said yesterday.

"They say they're just cranks or Port supporters but, I do worry about it.

"These are legitimate questions and that's why I'm going out of my way to talk about the issues."

Six weeks ago, when the Crows opened its books to an investigation, Chapman gave a "gold-plated commitment" that the AFL would find nothing.

He meant nothing more than the secret trade deal the club had already admitted to - but the illegal payments made to its full-forward were still to be uncovered.

Yesterday Chapman was asking Crows supporters and members "to take comfort" that the errors of the Tippett affair were an isolated incident and the club is in a good position.

"We are in a good position because we have had a forensic analysis from Deloittes," he said.

"The AFL has investigated their findings and there are no further breaches.

"That result makes the decision easier about whether you keep your CEO or not."

Chapman says the past six weeks have been challenging, but that trying times create the best leaders.

He believes Trigg is one of those of leaders.

"Everyone who knows and works with Steven rates him highly," he added.

"This was not a popularity competition but a big influence in the decision of the board (to stick with Trigg) was that every player, every staff member, every coach , every sponsor and every vice-president are 100 per cent supportive of retaining Steven.

"There have been impassioned pleas from many of our key stakeholders to retain Steven."

The club has announced a governance review of all its policies and procedures to be headed by board member Jim Hazel, who has expertise in the area.

"I want to make sure, particularly as it relates to player contracts and TPP's (Total Player Payments) that we have the rigour that would be expected," Chapman said.

"But I think it should be emphasised that the Commission chairman (Mike Fitzpatrick) made it very clear this is not a systemic breach and is very different to other TPP issues they have had in the past."

Chapman has been actively communicating with angry Crows members concerned about the damage to the club's reputation and future on-field success.

"I''ve been speaking to members and replying to individual e-mails as I feel we owe them the courtesy of a personal response," Chapman said.

"We have a lot of work to do to reconnect with our members before we can move on."
